Using Your School iPad after Graduation
Reminder: Student accounts are disabled after you graduate in September. You will lose access to your email and any files or content you have in your NPS Google Account. Google allows students to copy content, including emails, from a school account to a personal one. For more information, please refer to the following wiki page: Transferring Content From Your School Account
You have several options when using your school leased iPad after you graduate:
Leave Your iPad as Is
You can leave your iPad as is after it is released from Jamf, our mobile device management (MDM) software. It will function as you are accustomed to, with the exception of a few managed applications being removed automatically. You will need to purchase and/or reinstall these applications yourself if you wish to continue using them.
Managed Applications That Will Be Removed by Our MDM:
- Google Chrome
- Notability - Limited number of Notes. Back up and export your saved notes.
- Goodnotes - Limited number of Notes. Back up and export your saved notes.
Please note: If you leave your iPad as is, you will still see the message "This iPad is supervised and managed by NEWBURYPORT SCHOOL DISTRICT" in your settings, even after it is released from our management software.
Despite this message, once it's released, your iPad is no longer being actively managed or supervised by NPS. If you want this message to go away, you will need to erase your iPad and return it to factory settings.
Return Your iPad to Default Settings
If you wish, you can also return your iPad settings to their defaults without erasing your content. Please make sure you back up your iPad before returning settings to their defaults, or before making any major changes. Apple has a support guide on this process: Return iPad settings to their defaults
Erase Your iPad
You can also erase, or wipe, your iPad. This will permanently remove all of your content from your iPad and return it to factory settings. You should do this if you want a fresh start, or if you plan to sell your iPad, trade it in, or give it away. Apple has a support guide on this process: Erase iPad
